The Distance Between School And Manoj

On a bright sunny morning where everyone gets busy in their everyday routine, there was a boy with his single mother. This is the story of a boy named Manoj. Manoj lived with his single mother but their financial crisis were not supporting Manoj’s dream of educating well. Manoj used to sell idlis with an only goal of satisfying his mother’s needs and getting into a good school. Kartavya Charitable Trust volunteers were out for an event, all drenched in monsoon sprinklers. The travelling was nevertheless tiring for the volunteers so they decided to have breakfast so that they could work all day long. While it was raining heavily, the vision blur and foggy they noticed a small boy selling hot and steaming idlis. The volunteers decided to support the child by having the breakfast at Manoj’s stall. The idlis were interestingly tasty knowing that a 10-year-old boy made this drenching in the rains. All this happened in front of a school as Manoj had a sparkle of dreams and hopes of educating himself well.

The volunteers paid the required amount to Manoj, and entered the school for event. The event was about providing better education and required facilities to the children. Suddenly the volunteers hear a voice from behind “Bhaiyaa, Didi”. The volunteers turned around and it was Manoj returning the extra money that volunteers gave him by mistake. The volunteers were surprised by his honesty in such a young age with financial crisis on other hand. Manoj could have easily kept the money as he was in a crucial need for it but following the principles that he learnt even without attending the school were firm. Manoj had entered the school premises unknown of the consequences he’d have to face. The principal spotted a boy in a dirty and drenched shirt and instructed the security to throw him out as it hurt the reputation and integrity of the school. This disheartening moment shows the flaws in education system as a boy with dreams of a better future were shattered in minutes.
