Playing with colours brings immense pleasure to kids, wherefrom their imagination starts collecting inspiration. Nanha Ravi Samman is bestowed upon 15 best child-artists from the participating students from standard I to IV in a Sit & Draw Competition. They are selected on the basis of their sense of innate creativity, expertise in sketching and colour-mixing and the way they express their thoughts.
The name of the award -- “Nanha Ravi Samman” -- is coined in memory of Raja Ravi Verma, one of the greatest painters in the history of Indian Art. Born in a royal family on April 29, 1848, ‘Nanha Ravi’ was passionate about art and painting. His works are held to be among the best examples of a fusion of European techniques with a purely Indian sensibility.
This programme and award is Kartavya’s tribute to this great artist, as well as an endeavor to encourage other such luminous little stars from the fringes of society to unleash their imagination with lines, curves and colours, and to recognize the artist in themselves.
