The elocution competition is organized exclusively for the girls from standard IX to X. The participants are expected to present their views independently, bravely and confidently on a predefined topic. The award named ‘Aaj Ki Kalpkanya’ is conferred to 5 participants. Our effort through this programme is to seek out a voice with courage and moral integrity, a voice that can bravely defy all the malpractices, superstition and ignorance engulfing the morale of the people in today’s world.
The name of the award “Aaj Ki Kalpkanya” is in honour of the memory of Kalpana Chawla, an ordinary girl with extraordinary courage and dedication. A role model for many young women in India and around the world, Kalpana will always be remembered for her incredible journey from Karnal, where she was born, to NASA, where she fulfilled her dream of reaching the stars.
“On one of the night passes, I dimmed the lights in the flight deck and saw the stars. When you look at the stars and the galaxy, you feel that you are not just from any particular piece of land, but from the solar system,” she had said after her first flight.
